To lodge the museum, the City Hall habilitated the old Bazán Hospital, a civil Renaissance architectural complex that dates back to the 16th century and is located in the city's old town.

Contemporary Engraving Museum

Since the Spanish Contemporary Engraving Museum opened, it has become a centre for reflection and action around art, especially contemporary Spanish art and, more importantly, original graphic work, hosting and actively participating or organizing exhibitions and awarding national engraving prizes, engraving workshop, conferences and congresses. It also has a specialised library.

Currently the museum's collection encompasses more than 4,000 prints, including different types of artistic trends, in its attempt to include the most significant artists of the Spanish modern engraving scene: Miró, Barceló, Picasso, Dalí, etc.
